Letting Go Exercise
For You: Release and Receive
- The Grip Inventory: Identify one area where you’re holding on too tightly (a project, outcome, identity, or standard). Write down what you’re afraid will happen if you let go, then explore: What might become possible if you loosened your grip even 10 percent?
- The Story Rewrite: Notice one limiting story you tell yourself about who you should be or what success should look like. Complete this sentence: “Instead of believing I should be ______, what if I trusted that I could be ______?” Write out both versions and notice which feels more spacious.
Your Team: Collective Release
- Team Grip Check: Ask the team to identify one area where you’re collectively holding too tightly— a process, timeline, perfection standard, or outdated strategy. Discuss: What are we afraid will happen if we let go? What innovation might emerge if we created more space?
- The 80 Percent Experiment: Choose one area where the team typically aims for 100 percent perfection and experiment with 80 percent completion or “good enough.” Track what gets freed up— time, energy, creativity— and what new possibilities emerge as a result.
