The Art of Ruthless Prioritization Exercise
For You: The Priority Reality Check
- The Eisenhower Deep Dive: List all current to-dos and place them in the matrix. Then look at your “Urgent/Important” box. What happens if each item doesn’t get done today? Be brutally honest about what’s truly urgent vs. what anxiety is making feel urgent.
- The Glass Ball Assessment: Using the rubber/wooden/glass ball framework, categorize your current responsibilities. Identify your three to five glass balls (the nonnegotiables that will shatter if dropped). Everything else gets questioned: Can it be delegated? Delayed? Deleted entirely?
Your Team: Collective Priority Alignment
- Team Glass Ball Agreement: Have each team member identify their top three glass balls, then align as a group on the team’s collective glass balls for the quarter. What are the three to five things that absolutely cannot be dropped without serious consequences?
- The Delegation Audit: Map out all recurring team tasks and ask: “Who is the only person who can do this?” Anything that doesn’t have a specific skill/knowledge requirement gets moved to a delegation list.
- Bonus: Create a shared “Do Not Do” list of tasks that feel productive but distract from glass ball priorities.
